Missing Home
Romanian houses, abandoned. Deserted or sparsely inhabited villages. The untold history of lives long past. Often, the mysteries hidden beneath these ruins become wonderful stories once given a voice. They are places—time capsules—that we can enter, losing ourselves in them to imagine lives long past. Change, and with it disappearance, is in the natural order of things. History tells us that entire civilizations and thousands of plant and animal species vanished. What would be even sadder would be to lose their memory. Today, more than ever, we have the opportunity to document the culture, history, and traditions of bygone eras. Much like grandchildren who treasure their grandparents' faces immortalized in pictures, we can glimpse the echoes of generations past. These are true holograms of human existence.
